My Visual Thoughts
MY FIRST ENCOUNTER WITH PHOTOGRAPHY OCCURRED MORE THAN 40 YEARS AGO WHEN MY UNCLE LET ME SHOOT MY FIRST PHOTOGRAPH WITH HIS KODAK BROWNIE.
IN 1966, MY INTEREST FOR PHOTOGRAPHY TURNED INTO PASSION AS I REMEMBER TAKING PICTURES WITH MY FIRST POLAROID SWINGER CAMERA, AND WATCHING IN SHEER FASCINATION AS THE PHOTOS WOULD DEVELOP RIGHT BEFORE MY VERY EYES.
GROWING UP IN PITTSBURGH, PENNSYLVANIA, I REMEMBER PHOTOGRAPHER TEENIE HARRIS CONSTANTLY HAVING A BIG CAMERA IN TOW TO PHOTOGRAPH VARIOUS THINGS AROUND TOWN FOR THE NEWSPAPERS OR JUST TO CHRONICLE THE SIGHTS AND SCENES OF OUR CITY. MR HARRIS SERVED AS ONE OF W GREATEST INSPIRATIONS BECAUSE THERE WAS NEVER A TIME I SAW HIM WITHOUT HIS CAMERA.
AS I CONTINUE TO EVOLVE ALONG WITH THE DIGITAL REVOLUTION, MY CAMERA PROVIDES THE UNINHIBITED ABILITY TO DISCOVER THE INFINITE WAYS TO INTEGRATE DEPTH OF FIELD, ILLUMINATION, AND SHADOW CASTING TO MY BODY OF WORK.
MY COLLECTION CONSISTS OF WORLDLY IMAGES THAT ARE PRESENT ALL AROUND US - FROM ARCHITECTURE, TO THE LARGEST SKY, TO THE SMALLEST ANIMALS AND INSECTS THAT MOTHER NATURE PROVIDES.
MY GREATEST PLEASURE IS DERIVED FROM RELYING ON MY LENS TO CONSISTENTLY CREATE A UNIQUE OPPORTUNNY TO CAPTURE IMAGES THAT EMIT ENERGY WHILE EXPOSING VERY ATTRACTIVE SUBJECTS.
